About Us

Cllr Phil Seabourne has been a Labour  Councillor for Fairwater since 2004 prior to this he was a Community Councillor for Fairwater & Oaksford and Chairman of the Cwmbran Community Council in 2002/2003. He was elected Mayor of Torfaen on 24th May 2011 and held his Civic Service in Fairhill Methodist Church on 3rd July 2011.  His wife Rosemarie, a previous County Borough Councillor of ten years is his Mayoress for the year.

Whilst serving as a TCBC Councillor he has held the position of Chair of Housing Overview & Scrutiny Committee taking through the scrutiny of the housing stock transfer to Bronafon.

He has also served on Resources, Education,Planning, and Leisure.
He has served as a Member of the Gwent Police Authoriity and currently a South Wales Fire & Rescue Authority member. He has served as a member of the Planning & Licensing Committees, the Learning Communities and Resources & Corporate Business, Overview & Scrutiny Committees.

In the 2010 AGM of the Council he was honoured by being elected as the Deputy Mayor joined by his wife Rosemarie who was named as his Deputy Mayoress.

Phil has lived in Fairwater since 1971 when he married and moved from Pontnewynydd to the what was then the New Town of Cwmbran.
 
He spent 30 years working at Panteg Steelworks and a number of years teaching swimming as a schools swimming teacher as well as coaching the very successful Torfaen Swim Squad for a number of years.
